To Make Healthy Chicken Broth, You Need A Healthy Chicken!

To Make Healthy Chicken Broth, You Need A Healthy Chicken!

It's the season for broths. Imagine coming from the freezing cold to a warm house and a cup of flavorful chicken broth. There are so many health benefits to chicken soup, broth or stock. Just google "benefits of chicken broth" and a ton of articles will come up, including this one: http://doctorauer.com/benefits-of-bone-broth/  Homemade chicken broth, or any bone broth, is good for your immune and digestive system.

Although, not all chicken are created or treated equal. Our chicken is certified organic, free-range, air chilled for optimal taste and hand slaughtered. They are also raised in accordance with their natural life cycle- so no growth hormones or GMO chicken! To maximize health benefits, you want to be sure to make broth using the highest quality chicken.

Here is a nice recipe for making home made chicken broth. I make a batch of these each month and freeze them. My family loves it!

    Home Made Chicken Broth

2-3 pounds of Halal Pastures organic zhabhiha halal chicken wings, necks, legs or whole chicken

    1 celery stick

    5 quarts of filtered water

    1 medium onion

    2 cardamon pods

2 organic carrots, peeled and cut into large chunks

    2 tablespoons vinegar

    Himalayan Salt

Place all of the ingredients (except for the Himalayan Salt) in a deep pot and let it sit for about 30 minutes. The vinegar helps to draw out the minerals from the chicken bones. The bring the pot to a boil. Remove the brown residue that floats to the top of the pot. After 20 minutes, reduce the heat to low and let the pot simmer for 12-24 hours. The longer the broth simmers the more nutrients it will have. After 12-24 hours have passed, remove the chicken, celery, onion, cardamon and carrots; the easiest way to do that is to drain the broth in a sieve. You can discard everything else. Then season the broth with Himalayan Salt to your taste. Enjoy :)
