Kids Farm Coop- Summer Session

At the Halal Pastures kids co-op, kids will learn about faith and farming. The kids will get involved in our day to day farming activities in the hopes of creating a connection to their food and nature. Children get to participate in the growing of food, harvesting and caring of the animals. We will cover the basics of farming, the life cycle of a vegetable, farm machines, the importance of Eid-Al Adha, compost and its microbes, chicken anatomy and behavior, the science behind a greenhouse, ways to catch predators and finally, we will be making a farm to table meal with the children.  Every year, the children are truly engaged and happy to be outside with a purpose.  At the end of each class, we make salat/nemaz together and have a short khutbah that the children can relate to. 

Here are the basic details:

1- Open to kids ages 5 years to 12 years.

2- We will have class every Tuesday, from 11am to 2pm. It will run from June 21st - August 30. There will be 10 classes total. 

3- The coop will be held at 180 Twin Arch Road, Rock Tavern, NY 12575.

4- Fee is $400 per family and automatic enrollment in our weekly share of vegetables once they become available.
